Hey Folks,

There is a greenwood gathering coming up in October, just about 30-45 minutes outside the metro area. Mike Siemsen had talked about doing this last June at Milan, he has solidified most of the details.

An excellent opportunity coming up soon, you will love this class... Jim and I took it together  a couple years ago and had a blast learning from and working with Jarrod!

Spoon Carving Saturday Event- April 5th, 10am-4pm.

-We will do a potluck-style BBQ for lunch, but there are also a few eating places within walking distance if you prefer.

-We should have a bunch of wood available, some tools for sale, lots of discussion as well as some good old quiet carving. We usually have a lot of fun.

-There will be some demonstrations, for beginners and advanced carvers.

The event happens at the Regis Art Building on the West bank of U of M campus. 405 21st Ave S.

Parking is available in the ramp on 21st street (across the street from Regis), in the lot just South of the building, or anywhere on street that you can find (beware of restrictions).

Open to all.

No experience is necessary.

You all know about this, right? I will be sending a box with any and all of the spoons that are given to me... make sure to follow the rules and fill out a form for each spoon.

All spoon entries that you want me to ship should be delivered to the University at our spoon carving event on Saturday, April 5th.

I will not go into listing all of the things that Tim Manney seems to be doing beautifully... it would take too long. Let me just say that he, as I often say about Peter Galbert, has such a generous way of sharing information very clearly... this is what elevates the craft, helping others to learn the techniques for themselves.

Check out Tim's recent post about steam-bending spoon blanks... a great illustration of how interesting the cross-pollination of wood-working techniques can be:

AWESOME!
